This is a album cover for the album called "push the button" by the chemical brothers. When I first looked at this album cover I looked straight at the middle of the chummily and the hand coming out of it and the sort of smoke well thats what you think it is, is basically a face and in the face has the words Push the button as in album title and in away the smoke is saying that life is all just a big puff of smoke.
The target audience is for the middle aged people I recon by the way they have done the album.
I think the album cover is very effective at trying to portray a message which is that life is all just about pushing buttons? and then fact that everything to do with society is all about yourself.
The colour in this is very boring but apart from the text's colour is very eye catching which sort of works with the boring colour in the background so your eye makes you see the font in the face.
I do like this artwork but I think its to boring and is one of the boring ones out of all the albums as it has no life to it although the inside may be cool it doesn't help the fact that its boring on the outside. This has of influenced me in some of my design techniques though out looking at different things but then again I don't think ill be using them again for anything else.

The shins album cover
This is the album cover for the band named "The shins. When you first see this album cover you think ok looks childish in away but then when you into more you find the childishness slips away and becomes and deep message about everything that is wrong with this world which of course you automatically thing thats what the songs in the album will be about whats on the cover.
The target audience is for once again a young age which would be the people that actually listen this sort of music.
The materials that would have made this work is I would say is a basic pencil maybe pen the taken into photoshop to touch up on maybe not to sure.
The info on the inner sleeve is basic drawings and also with this album cover its a sort of pop up thing that you can interact with and all the images with the pop ups are all about the songs with in the album.
The artwork is very well done to fit with the album and the people behind it "the Shins".

Coldplay X & Y CD album cover
This is the album cover for the Coldplay album called "X & Y". When you first look at this you think what is the object or thing in the middle of the album cover, so when I first looked at the cover i thought it was a bomb type thing that could of related to one of the songs in the album, but this album cover has more to it than first meets the eyes.
I think the target audience is to people aged between 16-24 the young age sort of audience would like this as one the music is their sort of thing and the art on the cover could relate to them and stick out to them in away. This coded image on the cover is related to one of the songs which has a secret hidden parlitatical message with in the piece its self.
The only technique I can think of that would relate to this sort of work would be that of photoshop or another program on a computer that could do imagery such as that. The only typography on this CD cover is the albums artist who are Coldplay and the name of the album "X&Y".
This has to be one of the most effective ways of portraying a message as in the album it has the alphabet for the code on the front cover which if the audience takes the time to look will get what the imagery on the front cover says.
With this work I really do like the idea behind the artwork but in the end its not really artwork as its more of the english side of things as the alphabet is in this image that it is trying to portray.

Vector
This is my attempt at doing a vector with my chosen artist "Brandon flowers" as you can see I didn't do a very good job at this as to say with my screen printing effect on him I did in a past post. But in some way it looks good with him being almost cub like which could relate back to cubism.

Screen printing effect
With this technique what we had to do was to get two pictures one of are chosen artist one of a animals head to replace the head of my artist. Mine was brandon flowers the lead singer of "the killers", and as you can see my animal is of a frog. So first we had to make it look like we screen printed it which is basically going into - image - adjustments and then going to shadow/highlights which gave off the effect of that we did made this image by screen printing. The it was just the mater of fact of getting the image of the frog and replacing the head of my artist with the frogs head and doing the same effect business that we did for the body.
Rob Ryan
This is my second attempt at trying to make my work look like the work of the artist Rob Ryan, to do this i had to first design my album cover and have the name and stuff and then I had to relate some of the objects to the songs and the album. So when I had finished with the design I had to cut it out well the negative parts of what I drew out and outcome this as it being my final outcome to it.
